MORE ABOUT IT….
Homescan focuses on measuring consumer attitudes and behavior. The panel is made up of people just like you, whose opinions help manufacturers and retailers make decisions on what products to develop or improve. Homescan is a part of The Nielsen Company, the world’s leading marketing information provider.
As a panel member, Homescan will provide you with a hand-held scanner. Every time you or members of your household shop, you’ll use the scanner to scan the barcodes on all of your purchases. Then, once a week, you’ll send us your purchase information. It’s as easy as that!
You’ll earn gift points that are redeemable for name-brand merchandise, including electronics equipment, jewelry, household items, toys, and much more! You’ll also earn entries into our many exciting sweepstakes. But, above all, you’ll be making your opinions count!
Reader Pros:
“I have not had any problems with this program. i love scanning my items and logging my deals. then i just replace the scanner on the charger and it transfers my info weekly. i dont have to do anything. i recieve my points each week!”
“I have been a scanner for 6 months and love the program. I have over 15,000 points. After the first couple of weeks of scanning it becomes second nature and goes quick. I shop almost every day for something and I spend no more than 5 minutes scanning. I have incorporated into when I put things away. I truly suggest you give the program a chance. The key is consistency. It is like everything (survey sites, etc.) it takes time and diligence to get the reward.”
Reader Cons:
“I also returned my scanner for the same reasons. I received a scanner that didn’t work. Customer service was horrible and not much help in resolving the issue so I returned it. And I also was harassed about the return. I provided a Fed Ex tracking number several times showing it was mailed AND received. But I still received legal-looking nasty letters and phone calls. I believe it is resolved now, but I am hanging on to that tracking number even though it has been several months. I definitely would not promote this company. Too much work for very little reward. Just my experience…”
“Just my opinion…I found it too much time and bother for very little return. You have to scan each item, tell who shopped, where, when, enter how much you paid, whether you used a coupon or sale, how much the coupon was, etc. The items for points seemed to take a LOT of points. I also took some of the surveys and still didn’t have many points.”
