If you are thinking about using a company, whether local or online….check their Facebook page first.  Most companies now have a Facebook page and the people commenting can give you great insight about the company in question.  I have been doing this for a few weeks now and it is pretty easy to distinguish good companies from bad.

I first started doing this with the SaveMore fiasco and have noticed it is easier to find out who is legit and good by simply visiting their Facebook page.  Read more

I was asked the other day about these two programs and I thought I would share my thoughts on them since we have both…

Sorry everyone I could not resist the cheesy title…LOL.

I worked in insurance for many years and I am constantly amazed by the amount of people who do not shop their car insurance. They just keep the same policy year after year. By “shopping” your insurance you can save quite a bit of money!

We were with Progressive for 8 years. We did shop every year but never saw a big enough difference to switch, until I tried Geico. I was flabbergasted when I saw the quote. Florida is one of the most expensive states for car insurance. We have high limits (no tickets or accidents) and we were paying $1200 every six months, which is ridiculous!

I found this program about two years ago and I LOVE it. Credit Karma offers free online credit scores and even shows you ways to improve your credit. This is all absolutely free!

This is not like the other programs I have seen where they want you to sign up for trial memberships to get your score, this is completely free. They have offers on the site to help you save money (insurance, credit cards, etc) and that is how they make their money.

SearsSears and Kmart have announced they will be closing 100-120 stores Nationwide. I have the Sears Store Closing List that includes 80 of the stores that will be closed. Each store, according to Sears Holdings, employs 40 to 80 people.

I am surprised they aren’t shutting our Kmart (it’s old, dated, and empty), happy they aren’t shutting down our Sears!

If you have not been receiving SwagGrabber updates on Facebook – I have a fix!  Facebook has finally decided to let us choose what we want to see – everything (the way it used to be) or what they want you to.

To do this, go to your Facebook wall and look for the “Sort” drop down menu at the top of your wall (see left). This will allow you to see all posts, in the order they originally posted, on your wall. If you stick with the default “Highlighted Stories First”, then you will only see the posts Facebook thinks you want.

Thanks, Saving Cents with Sense!

Its the end of Daylight Savings Time so we need to change our clocks back an hour tonight!  I still think this is a silly thing we do but I will take the extra hour of sleep!

So run, go change your clocks now so you get to sleep in an extra hour tomorrow morning!

Everyone in Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa can ignore this because they don’t participate in Daylight Savings Time! Did you know that?

Facebook made a change recently that affects your news feed and how you see friends and pages you interact with. I have been looking for a way to fix this because I am getting a LOT of reports of people not receiving SwagGrabber updates on Facebook.  I think I have one, although I can’t guarantee this will work for everyone.

If you’ve noticed that you’re not getting updates from SwagGrabber, try these steps to fix it.

The spam/phishing emails coming out these days are REALLY good!  I have received two in the last three days that would have fooled me if I didn’t know what to look for.  They can mimick the site, the logos, and more.  They are trying to get you to log into your account so they can grab your login information to access your account.

Most companies are aware of the problem and now have email addresses set up to report issues like this.  Go directly to their website and look for such email addresses to forward these to, it helps them track the spammers/phishers!

Click the “Read More” for some tips.

I have a confession to make, I am a lazy couponer! When I first started couponing, I clipped every coupon and hunted every deal I could find. I quickly got burned out and started realizing I was spending WAY too much time on it.

I also used to buy 20 of things and we would only need 2 or 3 to last us a year. I ended up giving away a ton of stuff and spending way too much time shopping. After about a year of tweaking, I have now developed a method that is a lot more streamlined and efficient!  Click the “Read More” to see it!

Of course, Facebook had to go and fix something that wasn’t broken.  Because of this if you go to your home page on Facebook, chances are that you won’t see any updates from SwagGrabber until you scroll from the very bottom.

Facebook has chosen (on its own) which feeds it thinks you will like.  So, in order to fix the newsfeed to show what you want and the feeds you actually want to see.

Click the “Read More” for instructions on how to fix this.
