I teased you all a little last week about a secret project I have been working on for the last few months. Several of you got to check it out but the response was overwhelming and we ran into some issues that had to be resolved. Those issues have been fixed and I can now tell you what is going on!

Introducing The Blog Boat!

This is a two part site I have built that I think will be a benefit to all of my readers. The best part about this site is it is completely FREE!!!!!!

The Blog Finder
The first part is going to be a large database of all Mom type blogs. I get asked all the time if I know of a blog that cover a certain store in a certain location. Up until now I could not give an answer. Hopefully this little search engine is going to be able to help.

Right now there is not much in it but that will quickly change once blogs start adding their sites. Eventually it will be a full searchable database of all Mom type blogs. You can search by store, by state, by city, by feature, and several other options. I am hoping to have a few hundred blogs in there by the end of the week, or as quick as they can get them in!

Blogger Portal
The second part of the site is for current or aspiring bloggers. There is going to be resources for building, growing, and monetizing a blog. I will be adding articles daily and hopefully will get some guest posts from industry leaders. There is also a forum set up where bloggers can post deals they find, trade links, and get development help. You must be registered to be able to see the forum.

My hope is that this turns into a litte community of bloggers where we can go to learn and make new friends and partnerships. When I started this blog I was on my own. I wish I had a tool like this to utlize when I was starting!

As you will be to tell this site is just now starting to launch. Within a month you should see a HUGE increase in the amount of information available. My first step is to start filling the database, so if you have a blog please do the following to add your site.

- Register HERE
- You will receive two emails. One will be the approval.
- Then go HERE and log in on the right.
- Click on "Add Your Blog" at the top of the portal.
- Fill out the information and you will be added to the database.
- If you need to change it click on "My Blog".

I am currently accepting frugal, coupon, deal, freebies, scrapbooking, cooking, and frugal living blogs. I am going to randomly select one blog from the database on the 12th to win a $50 Amazon gift card so make sure to get your blog in before then!

Also if you have already entered your blog please go in and verify everything is working properly, you may need to upload your image again. You can access your blog by clicking on "My Blogs" at the top. If you have any issues let me know!

The only requirement I have for blogs to be in the database is that they post the Blog Boat button on their site. I am not ready for mass traffic yet so I will be sending out the button on the 12th. Please make sure to add it to your site somewhere then and if possible post a little comment about the new site.

Many years ago I worked for SafeKids here in Florida. SafeKids is an amazing organization, designed to help prevent childhood injuries. Part of my job was to help organize car seat checkup events all over the state of Florida. During this time I was lucky enough to have been certified in installing car seats properly and learned wayyyyy too much about car seat safety. Because of this I am a fanatic about car seats being installed properly, I am always checking friends and families to make sure they are correct, and guess what they never are!

I was installing my sister's yesterday and it got me thinking...what about all of my readers? Since physically coming to everyone's house and fixing their car seat is impossible, I thought I would give you some resources on getting it done yourself.

Here is a very sad but very real statistic - 9 out of 10 car seats are found to be improperly installed. Yes this is true, most car seats are not installed correctly. Head out to your vehicle and wiggle your car seat, if it moves more than one inch, it is not installed correctly. Hopefully none of you are ever in an accident but if you are an improperly installed car seat can actually injure your child rather than keep them safe like it is designed to.

The quickest and easiest way to ensure it is installed properly is to visit a car seat checkup event. SafeKids organizes car seats checks all over the country and do them pretty frequently. It is compeltely free and all you have to do is show up and the will help you put it in properly. Not too mention if you have a recalled car seat or one that is not up to par, most of the time they have car seats on hand that were donated to replace your existing car seat. Yes you can actually sometimes get a free car seat at the events!

Another great resource is your local fire department or law enforcement agency. Most of these have certified people on staff that will install your car seat for you. Of course you need to call ahead of time to make sure they have someone on staff and make an appointment to do this.

So please do yourself a favor and go get it checked today...it could save a life!
