CVS - I just got $170 worth of stuff for $32 after ECB

Permalink 08:49:57 pm, Categories: Swag Stuff, CVS

It really doesn't look like much in the picutre, but everything I bought was expensive necessities! Keep in mind I actually bought 5 of the Charmin, only 2 are pictured.

We will probably never have to buy toilet paper again!!! It is Monday and I have already been to CVS twice this week and I see at least 3 more trips! A big mixup turned into a blessing for me. I went yesterday and I forgot my CVS card (I know huge no no), so I had them look up my number. Little did I know that my phone number is still tied to an old card I have not used in years. So here is what I got...

Transaction 1 - mystery card
L'Oreal Moisturizer $15.99
Zantrex $4.99
Total $20.98
Used $15 in ECB I had
Total OOP = $5.27 (I think, can't find receipt)
Received $20.98 in ECB $15.99 L'Oreal, $4.99 Zantrex

Transaction 2 - mystery card
4 Duracell at $5.79
1 Duracell at $5.99
1 Duracell at $9.99
Gatorade $1.99 - to make hubby happy since he was chasing boy
Milk - $3.59 filler
Stride gum - $1.29
Total = $46.01
Used 4 $5/2 Duracell coupons, $4.99 ECB from previous
For some reason it would not let me use the $15.99 from previous, there was a long line now so I gave and actually paid cash!
Total OOP $21.02 - should have been $5.02
Received $15 in ECB for Duracell
-This transaction was a nightmare, I had to spend more to use the two large ECB I had but with the $5 off coupons I kept having to add more, this did not work out the way I planned. But it is OK!!!! Because I am SET on toilet paper!

Transaction 3 today - mystery card (after we figured out the problem)
4 Duracell at $5.99
2 Charmin 16 pack $9.99 - not a bad price!
Total $45.94
Used 3 $.50 off Duracell coupons, 1 $1/1 Duracell, 2 $5 off 2 Duracell, $30.99 in ECB
- I added an extra toilet paper so I could use my ECB
Total OOP = $1.72

Transcation 4 - mystery card
- This was to use up the ECB since I never use that card and the cashier was working with me, I didn't want any other issues.
3 Charmin at $9.99
Total = $29.97
Used $30.99 in ECB - by this point I didn't care and let her round down
Total OOP = $0

Transaction 5 - my card
1 L'Oreal $15.99
1 Zantrex $4.99
1 Nuprin (75% clearance) $1.42
1 Olay Moisturizer (75% clearance) $5.50
Total $27.90
Used $1 off Olay, $4/$20 CVS Beauty
Total OOP = $22.90
Received $15.99 for L'Oreal, $4.99 for Zantrex
- well I will receive them when I call CVS, they didn't print out!

I really could have done a whole lot better, but I am super happy with what I got. I did not have a lot of prep time and had a two year old tearing around the store yesterday so to do this well is AWESOME!

Every day I hear "another 100,000 jobs gone", that is depressing. Lucky for us we both have good stable jobs but I know there are hundreds of thousands of people without employment right now. So when I see a really good job opportunity I like to try and share it with those thay may be looking for a job. When Obama takes office there are going to be 7,000 job openings within the government. The 2009 Plum book was just released, this is a listing of all government positions and which ones will be vacated when Obama takes office in January, basically a really large list of coveted government jobs! The best thing about these jobs are they have great benefits and usually above average pay (it's the government what would you expect...lol). Another great feature is it is just about any position from clerical to high salary positions, so whether you are a secretary out of work or a laid off CEO there probably is a job for you. Not too mention these positions are all over the country, not just in Washington!

Here's the catch...like any good job these take work to get. I am a firm believer that the best jobs are not advertised, they are searched out. I really had to work to get my job and I love it!. So here is what you are going to have to do...

1. Look through the Plum Book, find positions you think you might be qualified for. Note the agency and focus on the positions with "vacant" next to it. Some even show the pay grade.
2. Find the agencies website and look for something called "careers" or "apply" - it is hard to tell you what to look for as every site calls it something different. Most of them will not have these jobs listed yet, but you may still be able to get your resume in early. It never hurts to actively pursue a position you want.
3. Perfect your resume - don't forget my post about Making your Resume Perfect. Hopefully it will help you improve your resume.
4. Keep watching - these positions don't open until January so you may have to wait.

I am not going to lie, these positions will be hard to get, but if you are lucky enough to land one it will be worth it! I am in no way and expert in these kinds of jobs but I have worked for the government before (hubby does now) and I know a little about how to get them. I am sure there are other people that can give a little more insight into these positions. If you happen to have some knowledge about these jobs please leave a comment. Hopefully this will help those that need work!

You know it is a good deal when I put it on the front page and Yep we have a great one here. Not sure how long this will last so you better hurry if you want it. Current Catalog has just started their 75% off sale. While that may not seem like such a great thing, it is when you combine it with the following codes it really starts to become something beautiful!

Enter code: VIP in the "coupon" code section - 25% off entire purchase
Enter code: WGGWGA in the "promotion" code section - FREE Shipping on Any Order. If that code isn't working for free shipping try: UE8 or UAMUE8

UPDATE - Use code VIP8 it combines the 25% off and the free shipping, so try that one first.

On top of that it appears they are AUTOMATICALLY taking 25% off your order when you put things in your cart. So combine the automatic discount and the coupon codes and you get an additional 50% off immediately PLUS free shipping!

UPDATE - OK it is two 25% off discounts, so it is not quite 50% off but it is close AND it is off of everything, even full price items!!!!

I am not even going to try to list individual items as they have thousands on sale and you know what you are looking for more than I do. But take a few minutes to look around, I promise you will find something, and with free shipping - why not. They are a great source for scrapbooking items, holiday decorations, wrapping paper, and gifts!

How to Fix a Cracked Screen on a Palm Centro - Cellphone/Ipod AKA The Sprint Ripoff

Permalink 04:53:41 pm, Categories: Swag Stuff

It has been DIY week here at my house. We had to replace the water heater last week, which we saved a few hundred doing it ourselves, and we just fixed my cell phone! My lovely two year old decided to "fix" my Palm Centro (a small PDA) with his little plastic hammer. Who would of thought such a small hammer could do so much damage! One hit and my touchscreen was smashed into a zillion pieces. Sprint completely lost my loyalty as a customer over this little incident (see below if you want to hear me complain...lol) as we found out we did not have coverage for my phone. Since it was only a year old I started checking into just fixing the touch screen. What I found out was amazing. I was able to order the part and do it ourselves for $18!!!

I can only help with the screen as that is what we have had experience with, but I am sure there are other things that can be fixed on cell phones with a little online research. Before this I would have never thought I could fix a phone, but we did! I called a repair shop and they wanted $100 just to take it apart. That was unacceptable. I did hear him say it probably needed a digitizer, big mistake on his part, I now knew the part name. I got on ebay and found the part for $18 including the necessary tools and shipping. They even had a super helpful video on how to take the phone apart and replace the piece. I watched the video and decided "I can do that" so I ordered the part.

It arrived today and hubby and I set out to fix the phone, it was a little tricky but nothing to difficult. We had it fixed in under 20 minutes and it works perfectly!!! Evidently you can repair the screens on Ipods and any touchscreen phone relatively easy. If you are interested in doing this try THIS seller, he shipped my purchase super fast and offers lots of helpful TUTORIALS on how to do it. I am not going to go into detail on how to do it as the tutorial really does show you every step. Just make sure you get the right part. It really was a lot easier than I thought and I LOVE the fact we were able to say "Screw you Sprint" and do it ourselves....LOL.

My Sprint Gripe
Sprint topped my evil list last week. I have had them for over 10 years with some problems but nothing serious. Today they officially made me a non-loyal customer. As I said my son smashed my phone. I called to file a claim and was told I did not have coverage. Now I knew this was incorrect because 5 years ago I replaced a phone when I dropped it, with no problems. My plan has not changed and I did not change the coverage. I have always had equipment replacement coverage (or so I thought) as it turns out I had "equipment service and repair" which is basically useless. Here is how the it went...

Call 1 - to Warranty company
I was told I didn't have insurance and that I needed to call Sprint. 10 minutes
Call 2 - to Sprint
I was told I did have insurance and that they had fixed it. 30 mintues
Call 3 - to Warranty company
I was told I STILL didn't have insurance and I needed to call Sprint again - 15 minutes
Call 4,5,6 - to Sprint, for some reason the calls kept dropping
I was told the other operator was incorrect and that I didn't have coverage. Spoke with supervisor who told me I had never had insurance which I informed was incorrect and eventually hung up on him - 45 minutes

Basically I have been paying $4 a month for 5 years for something that is completely worthless and it took me almost two hours to find this out. I told the last guy he needed to refund my $250 since they had greatly misrepresented their product, of course he didn't but I thought it was worth a shot. Now let me explain one thing, I worked in retail for over 7 years during college and waited tables. I get it... customer service jobs like theirs are not easy so I am always extremely nice and simply want to find a resolution so I am very accomodating and friendly. I live by the saying "you get more bee's with honey than vinegar". The last guy was the single worst person I have EVER dealt with in a customer service dept and he was a supervisor. Either someone had ran over his dog that day or he had a serious chip on his shoulder. When I hung up on him I was the most upset I have EVER been after a phone call. He did absolutely nothing to try and help me fix my problem.

Oh well it is over now and of course since they are a billion dollar company and I am just little ole me, there isn't much I can do to them....except post this on my blog...LOL. After all of that the only assistance they could offer was to ship it in and possibly have it fixed by a technician for a $135 fee and I might get it back in 3 weeks, so it is really nice to be able to say...

HA HA on them, I did it for $18...WOOHOOO!
